Famous last words …
You may have seen this one before, but it never hurts to dust off a classic:
“Look at the penalty for failure … Okay, I’ll do it“

Anyone interested in joining me on 10/22? I plan on hitting up the Dublin IMAX showing. Maybe grab beers before? Let me know…
I have decided to start the DME shuttle, but for the first event we’re heading to Northstar before their season ends.
We’ll have 3 shuttles heading up, one from San Ramon (Stone’s Tacoma), one from Pleasanton (Jah’s 4Runner), and one from Livermore (CK’s element). Throw in some cash for gas and we’re good.
Please RSVP by e-mail Stone, Jah or CK.
We can answer your specific questions.
We will leave around 6:30 AM to get to Truckee for the 10AM N* opening. And be leaving at closing, which is 4PM.
Looking forward to a great day.
Cheers,
Jah Mon
Jah Mon, myself and db got in some riding last weekend. It was awesome. Friday afternoon shuttle up to Packer Saddle, introduced Derek to the Downieville DH – Sunrise, Butcher, 3rd – 1st Divide and out. I was on the VP Free for the first time up there. Amazing ride. That bike is sweet. Best way to evaluate it is my face hurt from smiling the entire day. Unreal. db, hopefully you enjoyed the trail.
After riding, we spent some time in the river, drank some beer, ate some pizza and said adios to db who drove up to Tahoe in order to get some time on the Highline on Saturday over at Northstar. Ja and I proceeded to continue drinking, passed out at the early time of 10pm. Having a 4 week baby at the house – it felt great to finally get a good nights sleep.
Saturday morning rolls around and Jah and I hop on the 8:30am shuttle out of Yuba Expeditions. Our plan was to do Big Boulder. We had heard there was some climbing involved. More pics and report after the jump …

Tried to get a quick 29er single speed ride in this afternoon up at Pleasanton Ridge. It didn’t turn out to be quick…and it barely turned out to be a ride.
Got 5 miles out to the Sinbad single track, then blew a flat. Fixed it, but started back to the truck just in case since I had to pick up the little guy at 5:30pm. Well, blew another flat (and ate sh1t). Used the 2nd (and last) CO2 cartridge along with my patch kit. Got another mile down the hill, and looked down to see my tire flat…done. Pulled out the pump out of the jersey pocket – wrong pump. My old piece of s–t that only works on a schrader valve. Nice.
So ya, got a 5 mile ride, and a 3 mile trail run in today…in 90+ degree heat. Awesome.
Did the math – my last 6 rides have resulted in 4 flats. 2x on the 29er, 1x on the road bike, and 1x on the Burley trailer of all things. The only two I didn’t flat were at Downieville last weekend…Great f-ing times!
Okay, so the image below was posted here.

While this is funny and I partially agree with the sentiment … the difference is that you choose to read facebook, twitter, etc. On the other hand you don’t have much choice if someone starts rocking the megaphone on your block. Meh, whatever … still funny.
What a mess pro cycling seems to be … Valverde is a douche. Fake beard? OMG.
And Contador is being an idiot.

This is simply hard to take:
Henderson police said an 18-year-old bicyclist would have been spared serious injury if he had been wearing a helmet when he was hit by a minivan Tuesday.
Yeah, a 2″ piece of foam isn’t going to stand a chance against 3000+ pounds of steel … Sorry, but I don’t buy that wearing a helmet would have spared him.
Then this:
Police said the bicyclist was in the crosswalk, but should have walked the bike through the intersection instead of pedaling through.
As far as I know pedestrians have the right of way. Why are the police blaming the cyclist? WTF?
Hope he comes out of this okay.
